What are Robots?   Images and Videos   I want to learn about design of robotic mechanisms   Links for further reference

•Robots are devices which can automatically generate motion or forces in a desired manner
•Mechanisms are used to generate motion or forces of points of interest in robots
•In addition the inputs are coordinated by a computer control system that ensures the desired coordinated motion generation is achievable as accurately as possible.
•Motion or force requirements can be programmed for different applications. These can be either well defined trajectories or dynamically adaptable paths.

  Where are Robots Used?

•Robots are used in applications where the motion and force requirements of an operation are varied and can be described through a software program.
•Motions can be repetitive or adapted to situations in operations
•Industrial Applications
–Carry out repetitive and coordinated tasks
–Pick, place, deliver and manipulate parts
–Impart complex and coordinated motions to tools and devices in manufacturing
–Handle and access hazardous materials
•Service Applications
–Medical and Health care: assistive support to elderly, less-abled people in homes and hospitals
–Medical surgical support
–Field applications like demining etc.
•Exploration and scientific applications
–Search unknown environments in air, land, sea and space with exploration vehicles
–Collect scientific data from various in accessible regions in land, sea and space using mobility
