Mechanism & Robotics Simulation Laboratory(Main Phase Lab)
A Robot is a re programmable motion generation device that is used in the industry to carry out repetitive task with a fixed level of precision. The device can be configured and programmed to execute a set of task that are composed a given application.

In industry robot are used for
a.Loading Unloading parts in a machine.
b.Handling sensitive materials in hazardous environment.
c.Painting, welding, deburring, polishing machining etc. are some application where it is used.

Typically a robot consists of
a.A manipulator which is a mechanical device which has some joints and links which move relative to one another.
b.An electronic controller that controls the motors used in the application . The controller also monitors and collects the necessary data to do the task.
c. A set of sensors and drive system that are used in controlling and programming the robot. is used.

In this lab we cover topics like the kinematics dynamics control system used in such devices. These basic topics show how the robot is design to work and generate the necessary output to a student studying this in Mechanical Engineering Sciences. Other topics like
  • Sensors and Actuators will be covered in a brief detail in this lab.
  • Programming for application will be covered in a brief detail.
  • Embedded control programming, artificial intelligence etc are not included here and will be taken up in other Engineering verticals.
