Electric Vehicle
Electric Vehicle
Brief
Electric vehicles are a hot research topic now-a-days. Electric motors show a great torque-speed properties which allow for better handling and driver comfort. These factors and fascination fuelled the desire to build and run a prototype in campus. So began the Electric Vehicle Project at the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab of Mechanical Engineering Department in IIT Kharagpur in August 2011. The project provided the platform to test and house various control strategies relevant to modern city cars. The first control system that was equipped on it, was that of an Electronic Differential. Work is being done to extend this feature into a Steer Assistance system that mimics a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) without the mechanical components. Use of Computer Aided Tools has been adequate in the projects giving the students a practical opportunity to learn Matlab/SIMULINK, Adams Car, Ansys, LabView etc. The proposed controller has been tested on simulation and would be test driven on board the prototype.

Team KART
Brief
Team KART Racing was started by a group of enthusiastic students at IIT-Kharagpur in the year 2009. Since then, there has been a steady rise in its workforce and its potential as a team. Hence, culminating us to take part in the Formula Student UK 2011. Our journey began with our first car KX-1 . Though we faced many problems in the beginning mainly in-terms of financial-aid, we rose above all obstacles making our first run a grand SUCCESS!!!, making the institute, our sponsors and the Alumni believe that we are not only ambitious but also determined to achieve our dreams. In a span of less than 2 years, we achieved the feat of competing in an international event with our second car K-1 .

The IIT Kharagpur Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Team (iKAT) is a student group working in the field of autonomous underwater robotics. We design and build Autonomous Underwater Vehicles for research and competitive purposes. Our team consists of 20 undergraduate students from multi disciplines. Our prime objective is to take part in the annual AUVSI ROBOSUB held in San Diego, California. This competition provides an opportunity for teams and industries across the globe to showcase their capabilities in underwater robotics. As part of the competition, a team is supposed to build and design a fully functional AUV which entails designing and manufacturing robust systems in the domains of mechanical, electrical and software engineering. Being a part of iKAT, team members apply their conceptual understanding and creativity in multiple dimensions of engineering.
