Modal analysis entirely depends on the mathematical models to establish theoretical models for dynamic structure and to analyse data in various forms. The mathematics involved is wide spectra, partly because the modal analysis involves time domain and frequency domain. It deals with discretized dynamic systems or continuous systems. The analytical and numerical theory consists of curve fitting, matrix manipulation, statistical analysis, parameter identification and more. As a result, reader should have the prior knowledge on the matrix theory. Fourier transform and dynamic control theory.
To get basic knowledge to modal analysis, in this section, we discussed the theory for modal analysis to estimate the natural frequencies of beam of cantilever, fixed and simply supported structure through spatial method.
